Chased
A poem about a ghost who frequently visits my dreams
My dreams aren’t safe
That’s where you always find me
Always where I’m running
Backwards just to keep you behind me
I can never forget you,
A loose thread unravels my sweater
And then you remake it
Somewhere in nostalgia
“Hey, I thought you loved this sweater?”
“I did. I do. I won’t.”
“You wrote my song in this, remember?”
“I wrote a lot in this sweater.”
Muse or monster
One and the same
I made an oath
That remains unchanged
I create for you
Until I think it’s enough
But it’ll never be enough
I know that
So you’ll haunt and chase
And show your face
Again and again
You unforgettable vegan
